Carrie West, GaYbor Organizer Runs for Office Back
On November 5, Carrie West submitted his paperwork to run for Tampa City Council, District 5 for the
March 1, 2011 election. A Tampa resident, businessman, consultant and civic leader. He and his partner own MC FILM Festival store in Tampa.
Carrie currently serves on the Barrio Latino Commission, The Ybor City Development Corp. (YCDC) and is President of the GaYBOR District Coalition.
Carrie's is focusing on creating new Jobs, upgrading Neighborhoods and working for better area Transportation Systems.
"In the 3 years since coming to Ybor City, I have helped in the resurgence of positive changes, the overall look and feel in Historic Ybor City. I know I can help out other areas in the district too." West said.
Neighborhoods which comprise District Five include Channel Side, College Hill, Downtown Tampa, East Tampa, East Ybor, Florence Villa-Beasley-Oak Park, Grant Park, Live Oaks Square, Highland Pines, Historic Ybor, Northeast Community, Northview Hills, Old West Tampa, Palmetto Beach, Ridgewood Park, Rivergrove, V.M. Ybor, West Riverfront, Woodland Terrace, and most of residential Sulphur Springs.
District Five includes partial sections of Courier City-Oscawana, Historic Hyde Park North, North Hyde Park, Old Seminole Heights, Southeast Seminole Heights, and Tampa Heights.
This district includes the areas of Downtown Tampa, the historical area of Gary, the Channel District, the Port of Tampa, and the Uceta Rail Yard.
