DNC Chair, Honorable Debbie Wasserman Schultz Presenting Sponsor of Florida GLBT Democratic Caucus Winter Conference Back
The Florida GLBT Democratic Caucus announces that DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman-Schultz is the Presenting Sponsor for their Winter Conference-Brick By Brick~Paving The Road To Equality - Ybor City, Tampa - February 10th -12th. US Congresswoman Wasserman-Schultz is a long-time supporter of the Florida GLBT Democratic Caucus and a leader in equality.
The 2012 Winter Conference will include educational breakout sessions ranging from topics that will help leaders work campaigns, run for public office, create effective messaging, maximize social media, and more. The conference is being hosted by the Hillsborough GLBTA Democratic Caucus, the Hillsborough County Chapter of the Florida GLBT Democratic Caucus.
“As one of the leading Caucuses of the Florida Democratic Party, we are delighted to have the support of so many of our elected officials,” said Florida GLBT Democratic Caucus President Sally Phillips, “It’s important that we all realize that elections have consequences and that we educate people on how we can work together to ensure tremendous victories in 2012.”
With the election of countless pro-equality Democrats throughout the state, including four openly gay elected officials in the Tampa Bay area, the Florida GLBT Democratic Caucus has experienced first-hand the strong influence its chapters have throughout the state. “We have over thirteen chapters throughout the state, from Tallahassee to Key West, and each of our chapters plays a vital role in their local political process” says Phillips, “With our grassroots efforts, we are confident that we will help lead the Victory in 2012 - not just on the national scene, but in local elections as well.”
The 2012 Florida GLBT Democratic Caucus comes to Tampa just months before the Republican National Convention. “Not only are we taking over Tampa before the Republicans get here, but they coming to a city where they will be greeted by a Democratic Mayor and an entirely Democratic City Council. This is something our local chapter worked incredibly hard to achieve” says Phillips.
