Florida GLBT Democratic Caucus Presents “Progress and Pride in the Capital” Back
Tallahassee Hosts Annual Winter Conference; Elected Officials, Political Leaders and Grassroots Activists to Attend
Tallahassee, FL -- The Florida GLBT Democratic Caucus, an arm of the Florida Democratic Party representing the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender (GLBT) community with 15 chapters across the state, will hold its winter conference in Tallahassee on Friday, February 25 through Sunday, February 27. The conference is being hosted by the Capital City GLBTA Democratic Caucus with the theme "Progress and Pride in the Capital" to represent a focus on making continued strides towards equality for GLBT Floridians.
Speakers expected to participate are Congressman Barney Frank (invited), State Representative Michelle Rehwinkel Vasilinda, Leon County Commissioner At-Large Kristen Dozier, Tallahassee City Commissioner Andrew Gillum, past Mayor of Tallahassee Scott Maddox, and Equality Florida Field Director Joe Saunders. The Caucus will also be honoring guest speaker Allen Boyd for his service in the US House of Representatives during the repeal of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" and passage of hate crimes legislation. In addition, the afternoon session will include workshops on diversity, grassroots organizing and passing a county human rights ordinance.
