Gay and Lesbian Events in Tampa and St Pete 6/21/2011 Back

Happy Pride to be! This year is going to be bigger than ever. We checked in with Chris Rudisill Executive Director of St Pete Pride (and one of the nicest guys we know) and he told us, “We're expecting record-breaking crowds the day of the festival and we have events for everyone going on all week long.” And he isn't kidding.

In addition to “official” St Pete Pride Events, most of the gay bars, clubs and resorts will be in full swing with activities from movies to contests to dances and fashion shows. If you can’t find something gay to do, you aren’t looking! Here are a few of the highlights for Wednesday and Thursday!

On Wednesday night you can BID on two very exciting trips to benefit The Tampa International Gay & Lesbian Film Festival just before their screening of “Spork”. Spork is a coming of age drama channeling the likes of Pink Flamingo’s and Napoleon Dynamite. BID on an American Idol/Cirque du Soleil VIP weekend in Orlando (including backstage passes to the Idol tour) or a TWO WEEK Cruise for two from Mallorca to the Panama Canal. The auction starts at 7pm at Muvico Baywalk, the the movie following.

See Little Ashes on Thursday at the DALI Museum in St Pete. There is a cocktail reception and curator talk prior to the screening. What better way to see this movie about Dali than in this incredible setting?/system/medias/69/post/E-BlastWithDog.jpg?1307134146

Thursday you can also head to the Postcard Inn for a DIVE IN Movie. Jump in the pool with a raft, inner tube or cutie and lay back and watch the movie! This is the kick off to the Fire & Ice Weekend.

St Pete Pride is hosting The Stonewall Commemorative Reception on Thursday at the Museum of Fine Arts. This is a sponsors thank you but its a great event and open to the public. Tickets are $25 each and available online.

Also in St Pete on Thursday, the Flamingo is hosting the Miss Flamingo Pride contest at 9:30.

If you are in Tampa on Thursday, check out the Nearlywed Game at Hamburger Mary’s. Gay, Straight, Bi-Trans, all couples are welcome to play, and host Michael Dixon will have you roaring!

Can you believe that just takes us through the next two days? The weekend is more than we can cover here, so we’ll post again on Thursday! See you then.
