Gay and Lesbian St Pete Pride Events 6/24-27 Back
We promised you the weekend update—and here goes—there is way too much to put everything here—but we want to give you a few highlights.
Some people say they are laying low on Friday to hydrate for Saturday…oh honey it is going to be HOT. For those of you willing to head out these are a few of the “must dos”
Friday June 24th
Kick off the Pre-Pride Party with a fashion extravaganza presented by Macy’s on Pride in Fashion. Join celebrity guests, including two-time Olympic figure skater Johnny Weir and Alexis Mateo, from RuPaul’s Drag Race. See the latest trends in fashion, including the famous Papi Underwear models.
Fire & Ice Party at the Postcard Inn 6pm-10pm.Sunset over the Gulf and dancing on the beach . . . the perfect beginning to St. Pete Pride Weekend and another great option to prelude the kickoff party at Georgie’s Alibi. (There is a FREE trolley from PCI to Georgie’s and back)
Flamingo is also having a party on Friday with country dancing, male strippers and lots more.
Join the party at Georgie’s Alibi for the Jagermeister Pre-Party starting at 9pm. Shangela from RuPaul's Drag race will be on hand! This is the offical kick off party for Pride and gets things going before the event first thing in the morning.
Saturday-June 25th PRIDE!
And we mean Pride starts first thing this year. The Parade starts at 9am! Of course the Una Voce Pancake Breakfast at King of Peace MCC starts at 7am to help you get started—at this point the carbs don’t matter but…Gay people what is going on? Who gets up that early?
Georgie’s Alibi also opens for breakfast at 7am and starts serving drinks at 8. If you are in the parade, you know this is the staging ground so there is a lot of time before things get started to grab a bite or toss one back.
Detour, which is right smack in the middle of things on Central starts with music at 8:30am, which is about the time some of the people who have been staying at the Flamingo Resort will head over on the $1 Trolley. Park at the Flamingo and take a trolley to avoid the parking issues. Then head back to the Flamingo after the parade and some parading of your own.
After the parade, walk down the street and check out all the vendors, friends and eye candy!
Don't forget to stop by the myQmunity booths. We'll have one at 25th and one at 24th. We'll be giving away our hot Q Tattoos at one and you can jump into a photo booth and click away 3 pics with your friends.
St. Pete Pride adjourns to the Postcard Inn on the Gulf for the amazing Ice Party, featuring DJ Irene Pardo, DJ Power Infiniti and DJ Luis Perez and more eye candy than you can imagine. The fun starts about 2pm and goes full blast until midnight. There are FREE trolleys from the Postcard Inn to and from Pride all day.
Later on, the girls commandeer Postcard’s beautiful conference facility (and romantic deck overlooking the Gulf) for Saturday night’s Heatwave Party, featuring DJ Irene Prado. (To clear up any confusion--the tickets are $25 for all day at the resort. They get you into both the Ice and Heatwave parties--you don't have to pay twice)
If you are a Karmic Tattoo fan---they have a CD release party on Saturday night at Ferg’s in St Pete. Another great way to spend the evening.
On the Tampa side of the Bay, The Chelsea will have the 2nd FCKH8 Event with t-shirts, bumper stickers, bracelets, and underwear to be raffled off.
Play Ybor will be hosting BEDLAM presents: Anchors Away - Sailor and Pinup Party. Bobby Brandon behind the bar JL at the door Laura Gorgeous struts Polly Pocket Pocket Poses **SPECIAL LIVE PERFORMANCE BY** Stiletto Effect. Showtime: 9pm.
Sunday June 26th
King of Peace MCC Church will hold a special Pride with Rev. Elder Troy Perry. Directly following the service join Perry for brunch in the community room. This is a great chance to meet the Grand Marshall.
Expect the beach at Postcard to be packed with post-Pride revelers. Join them for a day of dishing and dancing by the pool . . . the occasional foray to the Gulf to check out the eye candy and float the day away. Throughout the day, Outings and Adventures Day will offer yoga, kayaking, standup paddle boarding and more. Beach is free, but for admission to some of the hotel events you’ll need to purchase a $10 Sunday Resort Pass.
Join the Last Supper Club, a group of friends in St. Petersburg for some barbecue and fixin’s at the tasty Wildwood BBQ, located at the Postcard Inn, host of this year’s Fire & Ice Weekend.
From 2pm on dance the afternoon away at St. Pete Pride’s official closing party at The Flamingo Resort. Drink specials, drag queens, hot male strippers and the Florida sun ensure that the party never ends.
Monday June 27th
The Suncoast AIDS Theatre Project will present “Divas Do Garland” this year to close out Pride Season. Tickets are “Pay What You Can” and benefit AIDS Service Association of Pinellas (ASAP) and Metro Wellness & Community Organizations, both of which provide funding and services to those living with HIV/AIDS in our community.
