Howard W. Blake School of the Arts Announces Annual Showcase to Celebrate the Arts Back
The Howard W. Blake Friends of the Arts presents Tapestry 2012! –a celebration of the arts featuring the rising stars of Howard W. Blake High School of the Arts at the Don Thompson Theatre. The proceeds of this event will fund the artistic dreams of the students through scholarships and donations to the arts departments.
This event offers the best of Tampa’s school for the fine arts by featuring a wide range of styles and moods in music, writing, film, dance, and theatre. Students, faculty members, and alumni will participate in the production, which includes several collaborative works and a few surprises. All funds raised from the event will go to supporting the Howard W. Blake Friends of the Arts Endowment Fund. The endowment provides support for the school, its students and teachers through scholarships for needs, students attending summer arts institutes, and workshops. It also provides for guest artists and general assistance for critical areas of the school throughout the year. The foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation.
The Howard W. Blake Friends of the Arts is committed to providing funding to Howard W. Blake School of the arts because students involved in artistic endeavors are more likely to graduate with higher levels of self-confidence and leadership skills, positioning them to be better citizens and more productive community members.
