Frederick JohnsonJoin us to celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King’s birthday on Sunday, January 15 at 5 PM. The program will feature a multicultural musical ensemble, excerpts from the writings of Dr.Martin Luther King and Mahatma Gandhi, and dances from Africa and India. 

This program is part of a series of monthly gatherings called “Festival Ruah: A Multicultural Spirit Experience.” Ruah means ‘spirit’or ‘wind’ in Hebrew. FestivalRuah is a celebration of the spirit as it is manifest in creationacross cultures, traditions, and faiths.

Fred Johnson, long time resident artist and ambassador for arts and theheart in Tampa Bay serves as artistic director and hostfor the festival series and describes it as "Jazzing the Spirit.” Hesays that after being on the road for the past seven years and away fromperforming and sharing the joy of music locally, he's excited to put out thecall to music lovers to join him and the amazingly talented and inspiredartists who will be a part of this series.

This family friendly experience is meant to inspire all to feel thepower and wonder of being together celebrating the gift of life. Lightrefreshments will be served at the conclusion of the evening celebration. Childcare will be provided.

Mr. Frederick Johnson has developed global programs in America, Europe, and the Middle East to bring people together from diversified spiritual andcultural backgrounds to create artistic forums for learning, sharing, and celebrating. As an African-American singer, song writer, and musician, he has studied andresearched musical traditions in African American and West African cultures. He has spent the past 16 years presenting international seminars on the powerof creative expression as a tool for personal well-being and healing. Inaddition, Mr. Johnson also helps with the development of programs to strengthenmarginalized communities in the New York Cityarea through Intersections, a multicultural, multifaith initiative of theCollegiate Church of New York, as well as the Tampa Bay.
