MyQmunity and You Back
Welcome to the new myQmunity Blog.
We have been working hard to bring you all the events and activities that we can find for LGBT Tampa, St Pete, Clearwater and beyond, and now we are adding a new dimension. Some info about some of the businesses, restaurants, bars and goings on in the area.
We are out and about a lot--so we thought--why not share some of the things that are going on with you. We will stay true to our mission and really focus on events and activities around the area--as well as the business community.
So where to start?
Last night we attended the Pride & Passion steering committee meeting. Things are going along really well for that event, which is going to be held on May 21, 2011. It is moving to Saturday night for the first time, so look for some exciting new additions there.
We also attended the fundraiser for Carrie West. You know Carrie as one half of Mark and Carrie of MC Film Fest and GaYbor, but now he is also Carrie West, candidate for city council in Tampa. The event was at Hamburger Mary's and was packed.
While we were at the fundraiser we saw, Mama from the Resevoir, Nikki from the Chelsea and Mel and Jori from Find a Drag Show. These business owners always support one another--it is really great to see. It was also great to see Al & Chuck from Al & Chuck Travel. These guys are blasting on to the national scene with a new gay travel company. Watch for them as sponsors of RuPaul's Drag Race in January.
Speaking of RuPaul--are you a fan? Well Tampa has its very own contestant this year! Alexis Mateo. There is going to be a kick off party on Jan 22 at the Chelsea--so make sure you get the date on your calendar now.
