Take Power: Speak Out- Tampa’s LGBT Community Focuses on Human Rights Back
Tampa, FL US (Jan 4, 2010) - Silver Glass Productions, in conjunction with Sacred Grounds Coffeehouse, is hosting Take Power: Speak Out.
This event will bring together Tampa Bay artists, poets, musicians and survivors of LGBT abuse in a night of sharing and empowerment.
The recent suicides of young gay men including Tyler Clementi, a Rutgers University freshman, have highlighted the national problem of gay bullying and suicide.
“Pride doesn’t have to be in June”, says Jeremy McDonald, originator of the speak out night. “If one person is affected, everyone is affected.”
Take Power: Speak Out will take place on Jan. 21, 2011 from 8 pm to 12 am at Sacred Grounds Coffeehouse located at 4819 E. Busch Blvd in Tampa, FL.
Tickets are free, but guests are encouraged to donate $10. All proceeds will go to Tampa’s Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN).
Silver Glass Productions is a non-profit organization whose mission is to develop and produce socially relevant theatre, and in doing so, promote community dialogue.
