Free Workshop on Florida Style Gardening Back

St. Petersburg's Water Resources Department will offer a series of six free workshops on Florida-style gardening from January 25 to March 7.

The series - which will help gardeners save water, time, and sweat equity - will include presentations, hands-on activities, give-away items, displays, publications, and tours of a Florida-friendly Demonstration Garden. The sessions will be offered by specialists from Pinellas County Extension and St. Petersburg Florida-friendly Landscaping.

Classes will be held on Wednesdays from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the St. Petersburg Water Resources Department's "green" administration building located at 1650 Third Avenue North, St. Petersburg, Florida 33713. Pre-Registration is strongly suggested as seating is Limited. To pre-register, call 727-551-3177 and leave your name, phone number, selection of the workshop(s) & date(s), and number of attendees.

Feb. 29 Sensible Sprinkler Systems and Micro-Irrigation Clinic. Includes hands-on activities and product demonstrations.

March 7 Landscape Maintenance - Everything from Proper Fertilizer and Pesticide Use to Pruning, Composting, and Mulching. Includes a tree pruning demonstration.
