Trans*Action Florida is presenting a showing of "Gun Hill Road" at L Train Bar and Theater, June 15, 2012.
Suggested donation of $5.00, larger amounts encouraged and appreciated. Proceeds from this event are being used to sponsor Latina trans women across the state, to attend the LULAC Convention in Orlando later this month. Trans*Action was approached by the Latino LGBT History Project and local trans- Latino activists to support this effort.
Latino trans persons are among the higher percentages of trans persons suffering from discrimination in our community (in addition to other trans persons of color). Some trans persons of color have greater obstacles to overcome because in addition to discrimination that already exists in society in general, often times there are cultural issues within their communities that compound their marginalization.
To have Latino LGBT persons recognized at this convention is an amazing advancement, to have Latino trans women recognized is a far greater advancement! If you are unable to make this event, please consider sending a donation by June 14th.
